Canda’s important milestone

On April 17, 1982, Queen Elizabeth II and then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau signed the Constitution Proclamation, bringing the Constitution home and enacting the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, thus guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms for all Canadians. In honour of this milestone, the Canadian Bar Association introduced Law Day in 1983 to commemorate the event and educate the public about the legal system.
