We are a full service law firm located in downtown Edmonton looking for a prospective Real Estate Legal Assistant / Conveyancer with international legal education and training to support residential real estate transactions and offer exceptional service to clients from diverse backgrounds.
This role is well-suited for candidates with a background in Irish, UK, or European Union legal systems, particularly those with experience in property law, corporate governance, or legal administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage residential real estate files from opening to closing
- Conduct title searches and review title documents through Alberta Land Titles systems
- Prepare conveyancing documents, including transfers, mortgages, and statements of adjustments
- Coordinate with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other stakeholders
- Respond to client inquiries and explain transaction processes clearly and professionally
- Assist with document management, file organization, and compliance procedures
- Schedule appointments and support lawyers in daily practice operations
Qualifications
- Law degree (LL.B. or LL.M.), including education obtained in Ireland, the United Kingdom, or the European Union, or equivalent international legal qualification
- Experience or training in property law, conveyancing, or legal administration
- Minimum 1 year of legal assistant, conveyancing, or related experience
- Strong understanding of legal documentation and processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in real estate or conveyancing transactions
- Familiarity with common law systems (e.g., Ireland, UK, Canada)
- Experience in corporate governance or company secretarial roles
- Prior experience working with clients and external stakeholders
- Interest in developing knowledge of Alberta real estate law and Land Titles procedures
