Upcoming activities with the CBA Small, Solo and General Practice Section

May 9, 2025

I am pleased to share with you that this is a very active year for the SSGP section in relation to PD programming.

On February 26, 2025, we offered a webinar on “Successful Networking” for small and solo practitioners. If you missed it, a recording of the webinar can be accessed at this link.

On April 11, 2025, we presented a webinar on “How to Launch an Arbitration Practice” in collaboration with the CBA Dispute Resolution Section. A recording of this webinar can be accessed at this link in case you missed it.

Upcoming PD offerings

On May 15, 2025, our section will be presenting a PD webinar on “Navigating Legal Issues Abroad” (only available in English) in collaboration with the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division of the ABA. By attending the webinar participants will gain a deeper understanding of fundamental principles of conflict of laws in relation to cross-border legal matters, tips on collaborating with foreign legal professionals and a deeper understanding of jurisdictional issues involving foreign jurisdictions.

I am also pleased to share that we will be offering a PD webinar on “Contingency and Succession Planning” (only available in English) on June 16, 2025. By attending this webinar, you will learn about mandatory requirements as well as practical tips on contingency and succession planning for your law practice.

Social event in August 2025

In other news, the American Bar Association is holding its Annual Meeting from August 6-12, 2025, in Toronto, and the SSGP section is actively working on organizing a social event in collaboration with the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division of the ABA for August 7.
