Description
Marshall Law Group | South Western Ontario (serving all of Ontario & select out-of-province clients) | Flexible / Hybrid Most litigation roles ask you to trade autonomy for a salary, or income for independence. We don't think you should have to choose. Marshall Law Group is a growing South Western Ontario litigation firm looking for an experienced litigator who wants the upside of running their own book — uncapped, commission-based income and the option to practise through their own professional corporation — with the support, infrastructure, and collegiality of an established team. You bring the advocacy; we bring the platform.
Why this role is different
- You eat what you grow. Compensation is commission-based, not capped by a fixed salary. The harder and smarter you work your files, the more you earn — with full transparency on how it's calculated.
- Practise through your own PC. Operate under your own professional corporation if you choose, and keep the tax efficiency that comes with it. Your practice, structured your way.
- Real autonomy. Take genuine carriage of your files, set your own strategy, and own your client relationships. We trust experienced lawyers to be lawyers.
- Flexible hours. Build your schedule around your life and your files, not around a clock.
- A collaborative team, not a silo. Bounce strategy off colleagues, share precedents, and lean on each other for coverage. Independence without isolation.
- Buy-in health benefits. Option to join the firm's group health benefits plan.
- A firm on the way up. We're growing across Ontario and beyond, and you'll have room to grow with us — and to shape what comes next.
What you'll do
- Manage litigation files end-to-end: strategy, pleadings, motions, discoveries, mediations, and hearings or trials.
- Take direct carriage of client relationships and advise clients on strategy, risk, and resolution.
- Draft strong pleadings, motion materials, correspondence, and written argument.
- Appear before courts and tribunals across Ontario.
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters and contribute to the firm's continued growth.
Who you are
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 5+ years of litigation experience, with the proven ability to run files independently as lead counsel.
- Comfortable in court, with strong drafting, advocacy, and client-management skills.
- Entrepreneurial and self-motivated — you want to build something, not just bill hours.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and a practical, client-focused mindset.
- Experience in general civil / commercial / employment / municipal / tribunal / criminal litigation is an asset.
What we offer at a glance
- Competitive, commission-based income with genuine, uncapped upside
- Option to operate through your own professional corporation for tax efficiency
- Buy-in to the firm's health benefits plan
- Flexible hours and a hybrid working arrangement
- A collaborative, supportive team and the autonomy to run your own practice
- A growing platform serving clients across Ontario and out of province
