We are seeking an experienced Litigation Family Law Clerk Associate (minimum of 3 years of experience) to join our growing team. At this time, this role will be 100% virtual, offering you independence and work/life balance.
As our firm experiences’ exponential growth, we are seeking an Associate that is able to carry their own files with a large degree of independence, possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven success in building positive client relationships
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Manage emails, correspondence, calendar entries, client meetings, court dates and client intake
- Liaise with clients
- Prepare straightforward correspondence
- Manage the collection, organization, and review of client documents and information necessary for the preparation of the client’s case.
- Preparing Financial Statements, Net Family Property Statements, managing the lawyer directed collection of client background and evidence necessary to prove their claims, first draft of Applications, Answers, Replies, correspondence, and briefs for court and ADR purposes, as per lawyer instructions and for their review.
- Preparing lawyers for their attendance at court and ADR.
- Key role in managing the receipt of client information to ensure they are received in a timely manner and saved in accordance with our internal document management protocols.
- Managing e-filing of court documents with the court and on Caselines and tracking confirmation numbers and status of uploaded court documents served and filed with the court.
To be successful in this role, you possess:
- Minimum of 3 years of family law litigation law clerk experience
- Diploma from a post-secondary institution in law clerk, paralegal program
- Membership in good standing with the Law Clerks Association of Ontario or the LSO
- A firm understanding of the current Family Law Rules, forms, and court procedures
- Excellent communication skills, drafting skills, outstanding work ethic
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Strong attention to detail and even under pressure, strong analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work collaboratively in a small team, as well as independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), together with Divorcemate, and willing to learn our billing and timekeeping cloud-based software “Cosmolex”.
