Founded in 1945, the Canadian Tax Foundation is Canada's leading independent tax research organization and a registered charity. Established under the joint sponsorship of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Canadian Bar Association, the Foundation serves as a respected national forum for lawyers, accountants, academics, and other tax professionals committed to strengthening Canada's tax system. With more than 13,000 individual and corporate members in Canada and abroad, it is recognized for the quality of its research, programming, publications, and member services.
The Foundation is trusted by policymakers, administrators, and the broader tax community for its objectivity, focus on current and emerging issues, and longstanding contribution to tax and fiscal policy. Governed by a Board of Governors and supported by staff in Toronto and Montréal, it combines national reach with a strong operational platform.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer will lead Canada's premier tax-policy forum, safeguarding the Foundation's independence, reputation, financial resilience, and long-term relevance. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will build on a strong foundation of respected programs, engaged members and volunteers, and sound administration to enhance the Foundation's impact, influence, and value to Canada's tax community.
Working closely with the Board and staff, the CEO will execute strategy through strong governance and disciplined operations; grow member and volunteer engagement; modernize digital offerings, and advance responsible AI, cybersecurity, and data governance. They will sustain service excellence while positioning the Foundation for continued relevance in a changing professional and public-policy environment.
The successful candidate is a respected Canadian tax leader with senior enterprise leadership experience, strong board and governance capability, and demonstrated financial and risk oversight. Credible with tax, public-sector, professional, and volunteer communities, they will bring high integrity, strategic judgment, inclusivity, collaboration, and pragmatism. Able to build consensus and make timely decisions, they will inspire a professional team and strengthen relationships with members, government, professional organizations, and national stakeholders.
