Career opportunity – Associate Lawyer, Family / Civil Litigation (Kingston)
Templeman LLP is a full-service law firm with offices in Kingston, Napanee, and Belleville. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Lawyer to join our Kingston office. This opportunity is ideally suited for a new call or lawyer with up to two years of experience who is looking to develop a rewarding practice in Family Law and Civil Litigation.
Working closely with experienced counsel, you will gain hands-on experience, assume increasing responsibility, and develop your advocacy and client management skills. The role offers exposure to a broad range of family law and civil litigation matters, together with mentorship and support designed to help you build a successful long-term practice.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Up to 2 years of legal practice experience or a recent call to the Ontario Bar; for candidates with prior practice experience, exposure to family law, or civil litigation is preferred
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills, including the ability to draft persuasive legal documents and communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts
- Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, sound judgment, and a client-focused approach to legal service
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines
- A demonstrated interest in family law, dispute resolution, and client advocacy, with a willingness to attend court, mediations, and client meetings and assume increasing responsibility as experience develops
- Proficiency with legal technology, document management systems, and standard office software
