We’re learning to do better
Canada has a difficult legacy of colonialism that has far-reaching impacts on the legal profession. That’s why the CBA is committed to answering the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action that directly relate to the legal profession.
Our philosophy is, “When you know better, you can do better.” We’re putting our words into action through advocacy efforts, tools, resources and education. Our goal is to:
- Provide the profession cultural awareness training, including historical training about the legacy of the Indian Residential School System
- Provide anti-bias training for the legal professional
- Remove barriers to Indigenous participation in the CBA
- Engage in acts of reconciliation
- Build authentic relationships with the Indigenous community
