A Message from the Privacy and Access Section Chair, Bill Abbott:
As the CBA Privacy and Access Section Chair, I want to welcome you to a year full of potential uncertainty and opportunity for privacy. For 2025, the Section Executive is working on encouraging member engagement with Section activities. We will be sending a survey to Section members in February to better understand your needs and expertise. Bill C-27 may have stalled in Federal Parliament but there will be opportunities for CBA input in other processes, such as the OPC's privacy guidance review. Finally, I want to thank all the members who worked hard to make the 2024 Privacy and Access to Information Conference such a success. The Conference Planning Committee is already preparing for another great conference this year!
A Message from the Privacy and Access Conference Planning Committee:
So much has happened in the last few months! We are delighted to announce the dates for our next in-person Privacy and Access to Information Law Conference. Mark your calendars for November 6 and 7, 2025 as esteemed members from all corners of the country will return to the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Ottawa for cutting-edge discussions on privacy and access to information law.
We are preparing an outstanding program, including our popular plenary sessions covering International, Canadian and Provincial Updates. We’ll have a variety of concurrent sessions addressing topical privacy and access law issues, and the rapidly changing technological and regulatory landscape. We will close the Conference with our blockbuster Regulators’ Panel.
