Dear Section Members,
The National Intellectual Property Section serves as the CBA’s voice on intellectual property and related property law and legal practice. We contribute to national policy, promote professionalism in the field of IP law, and respond to legislative initiatives. Our members get access to the latest case summaries, submissions, and news. Check out our website and find out who’s on the 2016-2017 executive.
We are thrilled to announce that your National IP Section recently won the National Sections Council Award of Excellence! The 2016 award was jointly presented to IP and the Construction and Infrastructure Law Section.
Our accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work of many Section members. We want you to get involved! Here’s how you can stay connected and contribute:
- Keep up-to-date with the most recent IP Case Summaries. If you know of a decision that has not been reviewed, contact Chantal Saunders, Chair, Newsletter Committee.
- Contribute to our advocacy efforts. Our recent submissions include: Governance Framework for IP Agents - Governance Model, Discipline Process and Conflicts and Governance Framework for IP Agents - Code of Conduct
- Join a committee. We value diversity and welcome young lawyers and members from a variety of practice settings.
- Encourage a law student to enter our IP essay competition
- Participate in IP Day 2017. Don’t miss the premier networking, educational and social event for IP litigators across Canada. Block off May 11 in your calendars now! Check out photos from last year’s CBA Federal Court Judges’ Dinner.
Please contact our staff liaison, Inika Anderson, to join a committee or get involved.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Kamleh Nicola
Chair, National IP Section
