Engagement on Children’s Rights
The CBA Child and Youth Law Section invited the Secretary of State for Children and Youth to attend its April annual meeting and to engage in ongoing dialogue on shared priorities affecting children and youth. The Section highlighted its work on key legislative initiatives and broader national issues, including implementation of the UNCRC, access to justice, and forthcoming harms legislation.

Bill S-212 - An Act respecting a national strategy for children and youth in Canada
The CBA CYL Section supports Bill S-212, calling for a national strategy that upholds children’s rights under the UNCRC and UNDRIP and urging the creation of an independent National Commissioner for Children and Youth, with particular attention to the needs of Indigenous youth.
