The Canadian Bar Association is saddened by the passing of the Honourable Gérard Vincent La Forest on June 12, 2025. A dedicated servant of the Canadian legal system, Justice La Forest made considerable contributions to both the public service and the judiciary, which included serving on the Supreme Court of Canada for more than 12 years. He was widely admired for his intellect, clarity of thought, and steadfast dedication to public service. On behalf of the CBA, we want to extend our condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
