Law Commission of Canada and Canadian Bar Association invite applications for 2027 Journalism Fellowship

October 27, 2026

The Law Commission of Canada (LCC) and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) are pleased to invite applications for the third annual LCC-CBA Journalism Fellowship.

Valued at $40,000 CAD, the one-year fellowship supports the creation of in-depth print or digital reporting projects that focus on the way law affects and shapes Canadians’ lives. The initiative recognizes the importance of reporting on the law by telling human stories, as well as the role of investigative journalism in the pursuit of justice.

The LCC and CBA share deep commitments to public legal education, law reform, and thought leadership on emerging and under-examined law and justice issues. By fostering greater public understanding of Canada’s institutions of law, justice, and democratic governance, the LCC-CBA Journalism Fellowship contributes to an informed, engaged, and empowered society.

Applications are now open, and submissions will be accepted until December 4, 2026. Interested journalists are invited to review the Call for Applications for more information on the fellowship and application requirements.
