Using your Portfolio credits

Education credits are granted with the purchase of Portfolio (a value of $250) or Portfolio Plus (a value of $500). Credits can be applied towards the purchase of eligible programs offered by the CBA until August 31, 2026.

Credits can be applied to a variety of eligible in-person and online CPD accredited programs, including conferences, webinars and on-demand sessions offered by CBA National, CBA Branches and CBA In-House Lawyers.

here are two ways to check your education credit balance,

1. Click on the Register Now button of any CBA accredited education program. On the registration form, scroll to the section titled Education Credits which lists your available credits in the dollar amount. If you do not see this section on the registration form, you do not have any available credits to use.
   
   
2. Navigate to a Portfolio Options page. Your credit balance will be shown under Education Credits Available.
   
   
    

On the registration page of an eligible program, select the Register Now button and sign into your CBA account. Fill out the registration form as usual, and under the "Education Credits" section, enter the number of credits you would like to use. Click the "Apply Credits" button to see the credits reflected in your total payment amount.

Yes, you can decide how many credits you would like to use when filling out a program’s registration form. Your credits do not have to cover the entire cost of a program. You can apply a lesser number of credits and pay the remaining balance.

Members were able to purchase education credits at a discount through the Portfolio program during membership renewal. Unused Education Credits could be carried forward to subsequent CBA membership years. However, because the program has been discontinued, we are asking all credit-holders to use their credits by August 31, 2026. If you still have unused Education Credits, contact memberservice@cba.org or by calling 1-800-267-8860 prior to August 31, 2026.

No, Portfolio is a discontinued program as of December 31, 2024.

Under the program terms and conditions, Portfolio Education Credits are not eligible to be discounted, pro-rated, transferred or refunded. However, since the program has been discontinued, the CBA is permitting credits to be transferred to other members for use by August 31,2026 on a one-time, discretionary basis. To transfer credits, contact memberservice@cba.org or by calling 1-800-267-8860.

Yes, Portfolio education credits can be applied towards your membership fees. If you are currently an inactive member, you may use your credits to pay your membership fees at anytime until August 31, 2026. If you are a renewing member, you may use your credits between June 1, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
