Litigation Associate Position – Insurance Defence of Design Professionals, Construction, Civil Litigation
Twining, Short & Haakonson, Barristers, is a law firm located in downtown Vancouver. Our practice is civil litigation with a focus on construction disputes, particularly with respect to the defence of engineers, architects, realtors and municipalities.
We are looking for a motivated, organized and team-oriented associate to join our law firm. The ideal candidate will have some experience working with a broad variety of litigation matters including defence of design professionals, municipal liability, insurance claims, construction claims, real estate claims and civil litigation generally.
This candidate will work closely with Steven H. Haakonson on a wide range of insurance defence matters, including commercial and construction disputes, professional liability and errors & omissions, among other areas of practice. The insurance defence of design professionals in multi-party litigation and municipal defence work will make up the bulk of the associate’s workload, with a general civil litigation slate to supplement their practice.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in insurance defence work and construction litigation practice. Experience in drafting pleadings, speaking to chambers applications, negotiating at mediations, and appearing at trial are valuable assets. The candidate should have a breadth of experience in these practice areas and be capable of conducting files from beginning to end.
Compensation
We are on a lockstep compensation model based on year of call. Our associate-based salaries are competitive with the current market for all downtown Vancouver firms, with a bonus model that rewards associates who exceed billable hour expectations.
Base salary: $140K – $180K, depending on year of call.
