About the Role
To help advance the OPCC’s commitments to reconciliation, the Indigenous Initiatives Lead will work closely with senior management and staff to develop, guide, and implement initiatives related to:
- Relationship‑building with Indigenous leadership, organizations, and communities across BC.
- Strengthening internal capacity at the OPCC to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and related commitments.
- Improvements to service delivery for Indigenous complainants and their engagement with the police complaints process.
- Coordinating training and professional development to support cultural competency, humility, trauma informed, and culturally safe practices for all staff.
- Establishing and tracking key performance measures that support organizational priorities in this area.
Work environment
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model which allows for greater flexibility. Travel will be a requirement for this position. The pace of work may involve shifting priorities and deadlines. We are committed to supporting your well‑being, providing access to guidance, peer support, and flexibility to help manage pressures associated with the subject matter.
