Description

Director, ThAImis

ThAImis Inc. | Full-Time | Hybrid/Remote (Canada) | Toronto Office Available

About ThAImis

ThAImis is an AI-powered legal research platform that predicts how Canadian courts will decide cases. Built on technology developed by Blue J Legal, the platform currently serves lawyers in the employment and labour law space with active expansion into additional practice areas underway.

ThAImis is part of the ADR Chambers family of companies, which includes ADR Chambers (Canada’s largest private dispute resolution provider) and Stitt Feld Handy Group (a leading dispute resolution training organization). This is a growth-stage business with real infrastructure behind it.

The role

We are looking for a Director to lead ThAImis, someone who combines legal training with genuine curiosity about AI and a practical instinct for building a business. This is not a practicing lawyer role; it is a leadership role for a lawyer who has moved, or is ready to move, into the business side of law.

The Director will have broad accountability for the platform: how it grows, where it goes next, and how it serves the legal professionals who use it. The role spans product direction, new practice area development, business development, and client relationships. It can be shaped to your strengths.

You will work closely with senior leadership and a small, capable team. You will be expected to engage meaningfully with the technology not as a developer, but as someone who understands what AI can and cannot do, and who can help translate legal expertise into product value.

What you will do

  • Lead the strategic direction of the ThAImis platform, including decisions on which practice areas to expand into and how
  • Develop and manage relationships with law firms, in-house legal departments, HR departments, insurers, unions, and other organizations.
  • Work with the product and technology team to shape platform features, content, and AI output quality
  • Oversee the onboarding of new practice areas, coordinating with legal content contributors and technical staff
  • Represent ThAImis externally at industry events, in partnership conversations, and across the legal, HR, and business communities
  • Report to senior leadership and contribute to business planning and growth targets

What we’re looking for

The right person for this role will have:

  • A JD or LLB
  • A genuine interest in how AI works and comfort working closely with technology teams
  • Experience in or a strong appetite for business development
  • The ability to think like an operator you can manage competing priorities, make decisions with imperfect information, and follow through
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal or technical concepts to varied audiences
  • An entrepreneurial orientation: you see building something as energizing, not uncomfortable

Nice to have

  • A science or engineering undergraduate degree
  • Experience in legal technology, legal operations, or adjacent fields
  • Familiarity with employment and labour law or other practice areas relevant to the current platform
  • Prior experience managing a product, a team, or a business unit

Compensation and location

Base salary of $125,000, with bonus potential tied to the performance of ThAImis. The role is full-time and can be performed remotely from anywhere in Canada. A Toronto office is available to those who prefer an in-person or hybrid arrangement.

Please send a CV and a cover letter explaining your interest specifically, your relationship with AI and what draws you to this kind of role to eluccon@adr.ca.
