Counterfeiting and Trade Offences Committee
Mandate
- To focus on and review areas of concern in relation to counterfeiting, trade offenses and the Competition Act as they impact on intellectual property law.
- To liaise with other anti-counterfeiting and IP-centric organizations and/or governmental enforcement agencies, including the Law Enforcement, Canada Customs & Revenue Agency and the Department of Justice.
- To examine the possibility of legislation to reduce trade in counterfeit trademarked goods and pirated works.
- To meet regularly, by conference call or otherwise.
- To provide comment and advice to the Section Executive on counterfeiting, trade offenses and Competition Act matters.
- To participate and assist in professional development projects.
