(Toutes nos excuses : disponible uniquement en anglais.)
Since September 2014, I have been the CBA’s representative on the National Associations Active in Criminal Justice (NAACJ) Board of Directors, an “umbrella group” of multi-disciplinary members. There are currently nineteen (19) member groups. The mission is to enhance the (members’) ability to contribute to a just, fair, equitable and effective justice system.
NAACJ meetings involve invaluable participation/presentations with Correctional Services Canada as well as Public Safety Canada, corrections-related guests (e.g. Howard Sapers), and presentations by NAACJ members on projects and topics that each has been involved in.
Highlights of presentations from group members include a "youth justice information hub", designed by the Canadian Friends Service Committee (accessible via the website). This is a source for objective youth justice information in one platform. This could be extremely helpful to those in youth justice, as well as other related areas (such as addictions).
The NAACJ is very oriented to the practical side of corrections. I have found that members of the NAACJ are very willing to share information with others. The websites of the members often provide informative sources of information, research and resources. I would invite any CBA member to contact me if I can help answer any questions that may be related to the topics covered by the NAACJ.
