About the Authors

Alexander M. Gay, B.A. (Hons.), M.P.A., LL.B., LL.L., Q. Arb., is a litigation lawyer/arbitrator specializing in commercial and trade disputes.  He is recognized as a foremost expert in international and domestic commercial arbitration. Mr. Gay has also appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Mr. Gay also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, teaching civil procedure and international commercial arbitration. He has authored several authoritative books on the topic of international and domestic commercial arbitration and has contributed extensively to legal scholarship through chapters and articles on various topics. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Law Society of Ontario, and is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.

Salma El-Hajj, B.A. (Communications and Political Science), JD (Candidate - 2027). Ms. El-Hajj is a JD candidate in the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. Her interest in international commercial arbitration has already begun to shape her academic choices and professional ambitions, guiding her toward opportunities that deepen her understanding of cross‑border dispute resolution. Ms. El-Hajj is fluent in French, English and Arabic.
