Access to Justice and Legal Aid
Improving access to justice encompasses a broad range of local support. The goal is for all local citizens – particularly the marginalized and disadvantaged – to seek and obtain equitable remedies, using a fair, transparent and accountable process before formal or informal institutions of justice.
CBA International Initiatives supports partners’ access to justice through:
- Improved advocacy by bar associations and civil society organizations
- Improved legal frameworks and policies
- Improved administration of justice, particularly collaboration between institutions
- Improved provision, and access to, government-supported legal aid
In our access to justice projects, CBA International Initiatives and our partners work together to address accessibility challenges and equality rights of marginalized and disadvantaged groups, including women, children, minorities, persons living with a disability and rural populations.
