CONNECTING THE BAR WITH THE TAX COURT OF CANADA

The Tax Court Bench and Bar Committee serves as the formal liaison with the Tax Court of Canada. We discuss concerns arising from the Tax Bar as a result of practice before the Court.

What We Do

The Committee is composed of 5 representatives from the National Commodity Tax, Customs and Trade Section and the Taxation Law Section. We meet regularly with the Chief Justice and Associate Chief Justice of the Tax Court, and representatives of the Courts Administration Service and Justice Canada.

The Committee discusses concerns arising from the Tax Bar as a result of practice before the Court.

Our Expertise

Tax Court Bench and Bar Committee members bring the following the following qualifications:

  • Area of practice includes matters under the Tax Court of Canada’s jurisdiction

How We Work

Members of the CBA Taxation Law Section and the CBA Commodity Tax, Customs and Trade Section are eligible to join the Tax Court Bench and Bar Committee. The Sections Subcommittee vets applications and the mentioned National Section considers and approves Committee members who serve for two-year terms. The Committee meets twice each year.
