As a member of our Section you probably know by now that we represent the non-partisan voice furthering the knowledge of pensions and benefits law in the legal profession across Canada.
We are actively engaged in advocating for pension standards reform, organizing activities and professional development programs for the benefit of our members. Please check out our website to find out more about the resources available, our submissions on pension standards reform and the articles written by Section members.
The 2019-2020 Executive Committee has an ambitious mission of increasing section membership by providing value to members in terms of advocacy, professional development and the opportunity to interact with regulators. In particular, we are aiming to add more young lawyers to the section and increase awareness of our section throughout the CBA. Our guiding principles include advocating for:
- harmonization of pension legislation across Canada;
- improved clarity of pension legislation;
- sustainability of private pension plans; and
- retirement income security in Canada.
We cannot achieve this amount of work alone so we are counting on you to volunteer on the various Committees. We value diversity and keep it in mind for the composition of our Committees.
