Christian Whalen, Deputy Advocate and Senior Legal Counsel with the New Brunswick Office of the Child and Youth Advocate, is the recipient of the Canadian Bar Association’s 2015 John Tait Award of Excellence. The award is presented each year to a public law or office sector lawyer who has achieved the highest standards of professional conduct and competence and made significant contributions to social justice or community affairs, and who exemplifies preeminent public service.

The CCCA announces next sessions of certification program for in-house counsel

After pasting the “sold out” sign on the first cohort of its certification program for in-house counsel, the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) has announced it will offer two new sessions beginning in October 2014 in Calgary, and May 2015 in Toronto respectively.

The Canadian Bar Association launches toolkit to address child rights

The Canadian Bar Association introduced a free, comprehensive new tool to address an inherent knowledge gap on children’s rights in Canada. The CBA Child Rights Toolkit is designed to help lawyers, judges and other professionals advocate, adjudicate and make better decisions for children.
