The CBA National Intellectual Property Section’s annual IP Day was another success. For the second year it started with a Diversity Breakfast. This year Nisha Anand hosted a panel discussing diversity topics, which kicked off discussions that lasted all day long.

Congratulations Sebastian! Sebastian D. Beck-Watt of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University is the winner of the 2017 CBA National Intellectual Property Law School Essay Competition for his paper entitled, “Just Laugh It Off: Trademark Parody and the Expansion of User Rights.”

The CBA National IP Section, which has been part of the Canadian Working Group for Global Patent Harmonization, has been invited to fill one of three Canadian spots at an international symposium in Munich in June. Section Chair Kamleh Nicola will represent the Section. Read on for more.
