Hello!
I am pleased to extend heartfelt greetings to our new and long-standing CBA Health Law Section members across the country and to report on our Section’s 2023-2024 activities.
First and foremost, thank you to our 2023-2024 Health Law Section Executive, Members-at-Large and Provincial and Territorial Branch Representatives, and to our Section Officers: Valerie Wise (Past-Chair), Jennifer O’Dell (Secretary) and Leanne Tran (Communications Officer).
Health Law is a growing and thriving area of practice. Our Section’s diverse membership help shape the legal landscape in all things related to health care, health institutions, and health professions. These contributions are felt from coast to coast to coast.
Our Section serves as a national voice for its members, advocates and intervenes on Health Law matters, and promotes continuous learning and collegiality amongst our members. This past year, once again, we were called upon to contribute to these important efforts. Our Section’s input was often solicited when CBA National considered judicial intervention or advocacy proposals.
I am pleased to report on our 2023-2024 activities and to invite you to participate in our upcoming events.

Welcome from the 2024-2025 Section Chair
Welcome to the CBA Health Law Section Executive
Congratulations and a warm welcome to our new and returning executive! And thank you to our outgoing executive members for their engagement and contributions to our Health Law Section’s activities and initiatives over the past year. In particular, I would like to extend my appreciation for the leadership of our past Chair, Julie LeBlanc Hultberg. I know that you would all agree that our success would not have been possible without her guidance. I have large shoes to fill and am grateful that I can continue to learn from Julie and all of you this coming year.
This will be a busy and exciting year as we plan for our in-person CBA Health Law Conference in 2026! If you’re interested in helping, please consider joining our PD Committee where you’ll be able to work on this and other topical health law programming.
I look forward to working with all of you. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk about anything related to our Section or health law in general.
All the best,
Leanne Tran
2024-2025 CBA Health Law Section Chair
