Happy new year from the CBA Charities and Not-for-Profit Law Section! We have some exciting initiatives happening in the next few months and invite you to get involved in our Section activities.
Advocacy Work
The Section is very involved in law and policy reform. We regularly participate in consultations on proposed changes, including the review of draft legislation, policies and guidelines as well as making submissions to CRA, Corporations Canada and other government bodies. We invite you to get involved in any of our Committees on topics of interest to you. Contact us for more information and to get involved!
CBA Charity Law Online Symposium
The Section hosts an annual Charity Law Symposium which provides an excellent opportunity to explore critical and emerging issues in charity and not-for-profit law and get to know fellow practitioners. Usually held in-person in Toronto, we will be going online on May 14, 2021 in webinar format. Stay tuned for additional details!
“Join a Province for Lunch”
We are excited to begin a series of informal lunchtime “fireside chats” on topics of interest to our members, held virtually but with each chat hosted by a different province. Be prepared to bring your questions and let’s learn from each other! Registration will be free for Section members. Stay tuned for the event date and registration details.
