The CBA is pleased with the SCC’s decision as it underlines the importance of both civility and resolute advocacy in the administration of justice.

The CBA released a submission on Bill C-58 in advance of Senate committee hearings. The submission identifies three distinct areas of concern – access rights, judicial independence, and solicitor-client privilege.

The CBA Judges’ Section is now accepting nominations for the positions of Secretary and up to 10 Members-at-Large for the term September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019. Nominations will be accepted until June 4, 2018.

The Canadian Bar Association welcomes Tuesday’s tabling of Bill C-78, which contains the first substantive changes to be made to Canada’s Divorce Act in 30 years.

The CBA Competition Law Section is anticipating another active and exciting summer.

Respected lawyer, negotiator, strategic advisor and author W. Thomas Molloy, O.C., S.O.M., is the winner of the Canadian Bar Association’s 2018 Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to law and legal scholarship in Canada.
