Roles and Expectations: CBA National Pensions & Benefits Law Section
Any member of the Executive Committee shall cease to hold office upon ceasing to be a member of the CBA or the Section.
All members of the Executive Committee must familiarize themselves with resources provided to Section leaders and operate collaboratively in accordance with CBA policies and procedures.
CHAIR
- Oversee activities and preside at meetings and conference calls
- Report to the Board of Directors as required
VICE-CHAIR
- Act for the Chair in the absence or inability of the Chair to act
- Attend meetings and conference calls and assist the Chair and Executive Committee as needed, which may include taking the lead on one or more initiatives
OUTREACH OFFICER
- Champions and promotes the Section to members and potential members by coordinating the efforts of the Section Executive, its committees and liaisons to:
- increase and expand Section membership (including junior practitioners and in-house counsel),
- pursue joint activities with other CBA Sections and CBA Branches, as well as with relevant external organizations, and
- share information regarding opportunities (e.g. upcoming events) with relevant CBA entities, external stakeholders and Section members.
- Attend meetings and conference calls and assist the Executive Committee as needed
SECRETARY*
- Prepare minutes of meetings and conference calls in a timely manner
- Attend meetings and conference calls and assist the Executive Committee as needed
PAST CHAIR
- Attend meetings and conference calls and assist the Executive Committee as needed
MEMBER-AT-LARGE
- Attend conference calls and assist the Executive Committee as needed, which may include taking the lead on one or more initiatives; in-person meetings are not funded
*The Secretary sequentially occupies each office through to Past Chair, which involves a five-year commitment.
