MEETING WITH WAGE AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS
We are pleased to be meeting again with Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), this time in person to continue our discussions with from October, to advance policies relating to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Alongside our meeting with WAGE later this month, we will be meeting with other stakeholders, including the Human Rights Commission, and The Honourable Arif Virani, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. We look forward to providing you with an update next month about our conversations.
HERO/ALLY AWARDS
SAGDA will be awarding our annual Hero/Ally Awards! We are accepting nominations until April 30, 2024, so please get more details on the criteria and eligibility requirements.
PRIDE INITIATIVES
We are already looking ahead to Pride month! We will be hosting a virtual, national talk for Pride in 2024, and are working on lining up engaging and knowledgeable speakers. Further, one of SAGDA’s officers will attend the annual PRISME conference held by the Canadian Association of 2SLGBTQ+ Lawyers (CALL) to show our support and maintain the strong relationship between our organizations. Be sure to keep an eye out for resources, professional development initiatives, and more, at both the national and provincial/territorial levels.
