Find out what’s new in our Section!

  • February 23, 2023

Neither sleet nor snow, the dead of winter, or the balmy beaches of the West Coast have caused the members of the Section to go into hibernation. Our Section is active and busy as you can tell by the highlights below. As always, we welcome your participation in the Section and any input you may have on how we can serve you better.

LAW STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

We are excited that our Lunch and Learn sessions are moving ahead. After a hiatus due to Covid we are going back to serving pizza and engaging in-person with law students who may want to learn more about the practice of municipal law.

Our Section will organize two law student events this spring in partnership with the CBA Alberta Branch and the CBA Quebec Branch.

Law Students please save the date and stay tuned for more details:

  • Student Lunch and Learn at the University of Calgary (April 6, 2023); and,
  • A bilingual Student Lunch and Learn for students (April 27, 2023) from McGill University, the UniversitĂ© de MontrĂ©al, and the UniversitĂ© du QuĂ©bec Ă  MontrĂ©al (UQAM) which will be held at a law firm in downtown MontrĂ©al.

Students who are curious about the practice of municipal law should mark their calendars! Both in-house and external counsel will be present to answer your questions and talk about how and why they became municipal lawyers, what it’s like to work for local governments, and the difference local government lawyers can make in their communities. We look forward to seeing you there!
