Jumping into a new CBA year!

Marcia Oliver

As I enter the second year of my term as Chair of the Section, once again, I marvel at the diversity of talents this year’s Executive brings to the table and I am excited by what the group will “build” together for our members.

Already we have three webinars on offer for this fall, and we are planning to deliver at least two more in the spring of 2023. Also, 2023 is a conference year for our Section, so please watch the CBA website for further details. Our hope is that the biennial conference will return to being held in-person, allowing us to gather in one of our many fabulous Canadian cities.

Check out our webinars and Section activities below. I hope to see many of you over the coming year!

Advocacy Highlights

Our Section is a member of the CBA Anti-Corruption Team (CBA-ACT). David Debenham represents our Section on this multi-Section committee comprised of members from various Sections. The CBA-ACT monitors developments in relevant legislation, regulations and policies and pushes for improvements in the law of anti-corruption.

Recently, the Section assisted with the review of the “Guide for Internal Investigations of White-Collar Crime”. The Guide is scheduled to be released on International Anti-Corruption Day (December 9, 2022). Stay tuned!
