Share your knowledge and expertise as a judge by helping to educate students in your community about Canada’s judicial system in April.
Program Overview
As part of the Canadian Superior Courts Judges Association and the Canadian Bar Association Judges Section public education initiatives, we are offering high schools across the country the opportunity to have a judge give a virtual talk on the vital role the judiciary serves in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased judicial system. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about how the Canadian justice system works and have their questions answered.
These free 30-minute virtual sessions are being held in honour of Law Day, the national event held every April to celebrate the signing of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Timing
- The sessions will be offered from April 19 to 29, 2022. The CSCJA will match you with an interested school, and you will confirm the exact date and time with the school.
Your Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the date and time with the school with which you have been matched, and ensure you receive the link and details from the school to join a video call.
- Confirm these details with the CSCJA.
- Share your knowledge in a way that is easy to understand through a 15- to 20-minute presentation, leaving approximately 10 minutes at the end to answer any questions the students may have.
Our Law Day outreach program is open to active or retired CBA Judges Section and CSCJA members only.
For questions and to volunteer to host a session, please email Stephanie Lockhart, CSCJA Executive Director.
