The Section has been hard at work developing great resources for judges across Canada. Check-out the updates below, including an excellent Law Day initiative, and please join us for Section programs on April 21 (Under Reserve) and May 5 (Emojis webinar) – free for CBA Judges Section members!
Law Day Virtual Talks with High Schools
Volunteers wanted! As part of the CSCJA and CBA Judges Section public education initiatives, we are offering high schools across the country the opportunity to have a judge give a virtual talk on the vital role the judiciary serves in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased judicial system.
These free 30-minute virtual sessions are being held in honour of Law Day, the national event held every April to celebrate the signing of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The sessions will be offered from April 19 to 29, 2022.

Under Reserve – Next Session on April 21
How are you doing? The Section invites you to connect with judges across the country. Pour yourself a glass of your favourite drink and join us to discuss the world today informally and freely. This is for judges only – an open discussion to build community when you may feel isolated and alone. Judging is hard work and isolating in the best of times. The discussion will take place via Zoom and is hosted by a Section member. We look forward to connecting with you!

Emojis Webinar on May 5
What are emojis? ๐ Why are they entering the courtroom? ๐ฎ Emojis have become a form of communication and as a result can be subject to interpretation. ๐ฌ๐คซ๐ค๐๐ When a lawyer introduces an emoji into the proceedings you want to be ahead of the game and understand what they are referring to. ๐ Don’t let the emoji conversation get away from you. Join us to hear from two speakers with differing perspectives on the impact of emojis on our lives and in our courtrooms. ๐๐
