Hello,
Welcome to a new CBA year! Our Section is the fifth largest of the 39 active national Sections. Our members can be found across Canada and are active at the Branch level.
We are proud to be led by an Executive of five officers – all dedicated business lawyers – including myself, Arlene D. O’Neill (Chair), Roisin Hutchinson (Vice-Chair), Laura James (Communications Officer), Daniel Hirsch (Secretary) and Samer Awadh (immediate Past-Chair), each for a one-year term.
We have ten Members-at-Large and 17 Branch Chairs across Canada. Our Branches provide valuable input on proposed legislation considered in their own jurisdiction.
Our Section plays an important role in advocacy and contributes to various submissions including anti-corruption measures, trade negotiations and the Digital Economic Partnership Agreement. We have also been consulted on proposed changes to the Canada Business Corporations Act.
We are looking for ways to engage members by delivering meaningful and relevant professional development programming that will attract a cross section of junior lawyers and lawyers seeking to collaborate with in-house counsel. We are also exploring ways to improve networking and business development opportunities. Let us know if you have suggestions!
This is a great time to participate in our initiatives, lend your voice and get more involved in the networking opportunities available through your CBA membership.
We encourage you to review our initiatives and support our Section to ensure the important voice of business lawyers remains alive and vocal in the community.
