It’s hard to believe that another summer is over, and the leaves are already falling. I find this time of year is a good reminder that we are constantly moving through cycles of change, both in work and in life. On that note, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Pam Hrick for her work in chairing our Section over the last year, and for getting us back to our first in person conference since 2019. Thank you, Pam!
I’d also like to welcome Joseph Redman, our newest officer on the executive who has taken on the role of secretary, and welcome back Garifalia Milousis as Communications Officer, and Patricia Harper as Vice-Chair. I look forward to working with all of you over the next year as we plan to provide great content for our Section’s members.
Return of the Administrative, Labour and Employment Law Conference – November 17-18, 2023
We are pleased to announce that registration is open for our annual conference, which will be held at the Westin Ottawa, November 17-18, 2023. This year’s theme is Review of Recent Trends and Emerging Issues in Administrative, Labour & Employment Law.
The conference agenda features crowd favourites such as the annual administrative law update led by Professor Paul Daly, and an engaging discussion on the standard of review with the Honourable Justice David W. Stratas. We are pleased to announce that the Honourable Justice Michelle O’Bonsawin will join us for a fireside chat on Nov. 18! Laskin Moot – Call for Volunteers
The Laskin Moot will be taking place on February 29–March 2, 2024 in Calgary, AB. There is still a need for volunteers to help coach the teams, and there is a particular need for bilingual coaches. This is a great opportunity to draw on your expertise, mentor students who are eager to learn, and sow into the lives of Canada’s future lawyers. If you are interested in volunteering to help coach one of the teams, please let us know!
