POSITION:
Professor of Labour and Employment Relations
The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is looking for qualified candidates to renew its faculty and ensure high-quality development in all its areas of activity.
UQAM is an internationally recognized French-language public university. Its research centers conduct cutting-edge research addressing social concerns. The School of Management (ESG), the largest faculty at UQAM, is a leading academic institution in Montreal. It brings together 281 professors and more than 40 research units. The Department of Organization and Human Resources has over 50 professors from various disciplines (https://orh.esg.uqam.ca/). The department’s research in the field of labour and employment relations is internationally recognized
within the academic community and among social actors.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Conduct research in labour and employment relations and related fields
- Teach and supervise students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels in labour and employment relations
- Contribute in community services, including activities that support the university's operations and its influence in the community
REQUIREMENTS
- Doctorate in administration, industrial relations, employment and labour law, sociology of work, labour economics or another relevant field
- Research achievements in the field of labour and employment relations and the ability to disseminate them, as demonstrated through publications, scientific communications and knowledge transfer activities
- Ability to teach the department's labour and employment relations courses at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs
- Knowledge of the Quebec or Canadian labour and employment relations system, or a commitment to acquiring such knowledge
- Experience that demonstrates both the capacity and skills to collaborate and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in French, both oral and written*
- A functional mastery of the French language (ability to teach in French) must be attained before the selected candidate begins their position, except in exceptional cases. Adequate proficiency in French (C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) will be an essential requirement for obtaining tenure, in accordance with the provisions of the UQAM-SPUQ collective agreement. French courses may be offered.
