JUNIOR TO MID-LEVEL LEGAL COUNSEL
OVERVIEW
Greenwood Sustainable Infrastructure LLC (GSI) is a renewable energy company focused on the development, construction and operation of distributed generation and utility-scale solar energy and battery storage projects in North America. GSI is the North American renewable energy subsidiary of Libra Group, a privately owned, global business group with assets and operations in nearly 60 countries. GSI is looking for a Junior to Mid-Level Legal Counsel who is eager to apply their legal expertise to support the company’s initiatives in Canada and the United States. You will be expected to play a key role on a range of matters.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The successful candidate will provide support by:
- Diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiating and closing various types of documentation, which may include options to lease, title clearing documents, PPAs, EPC agreements, O&M agreements, loan agreements, M&A agreements, JV agreements, governance agreements and general corporate agreements and documents.
- Corresponding with external legal counsel and third parties and providing timely support to GSI’s business lines; and
- Support on other legal matters and transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have the following competencies:
- LLB or JD from an accredited law school with bar admission in Ontario or another Province.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of legal experience at a leading law firm or in-house.
- Experience in some or all of diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiating and closing option to lease, title clearing, PPA, EPC, O&M, project finance, M&A, JV, governance and general corporate documentation.
- Preferably experience in renewable energy.
- Commercial astuteness and motivated by the work that you do.
- Ability to manage a high volume of legal matters; and
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Location: Hybrid, with time in Waterloo Region office tailored to location of successful candidate.
