TWO SUPREME COURT DECISIONS CONFIRM SOLICITOR-CLIENT PRIVILEGE

The CBA is very pleased with two decisions handed down by the Supreme Court of Canada on June 3 that confirm the importance of solicitor-client privilege. The CBA intervened in both Canada (National Revenue) v Thompson and  Canada (Attorney General) v Chambre des notaires du QuĂ©bec et Barreau du QuĂ©bec.

Alex Bogach, a third-year student at Queen’s University Faculty of Law is this year’s winner of the Real Property Section’s essay competition with his paper titled  A Place in Common Space: State Property Ownership and Common Spaces in Canada. Meanwhile, AmĂ©lie Gravel , who began her law studies at the UniversitĂ© de QuĂ©bec Ă  MontrĂ©al in January, won the Sword and Scale award from the Military Law Section for her paper Les victimes d’infractions d’ordre militaire : des victimes comme les autres.
