Start off the new decade by joining with your CBA counterparts and participating in the 2020 Annual General Meeting. Registration for the 2020 AGM, to be held on February 19, is now open.

As community and legal research associates for the Supporting Inclusive Resource Development (SIRD) in East Africa project, we supported activities of the project for one month in Kwale County, Kenya. SIRD is a Global Affairs Canada-funded project implemented by the CBA, in partnership with several East African law societies.

The 32 participants in the Young Lawyers International Program are spread far and wide, but they are keeping well connected with the world through their Public Engagement page.

We arrived in Uganda on November 16 to volunteer with the Uganda Law Society (ULS) as Community Research Associates through the Supporting Inclusive Resource Development in East Africa (SIRD) project.

The order making powers in the new federal Access to information Act and the challenges of dealing with a growing volume of requests emerged as themes during the annual Commissioners’ roundtable at the CBA Access to Information and Privacy Law Symposium in Ottawa on October 18.

Our Section has a long and proud history, and we’re indebted to Gary Segal and Marshall Drukarsh for sharing their memories of the foundation of our organization. What follows is a very abridged version of their account.

The Canadian Bar Association welcomes the re-appointment of The Honourable David Lametti to the Justice portfolio. We look forward to renewing our relationship with Minister Lametti, and working with him and his cabinet colleagues as the new government embarks on its legislative agenda.
