CBA President’s statement on the death of Thomas G. Heintzman, O.C., Q.C., FCIArb

The Canadian Bar Association is saddened by the passing of Thomas G. Heintzman, O.C., Q.C., FCIArb, on Oct. 24, 2019. He served the Canadian legal profession, his country and our Association well during his long and distinguished career.

Thomas Heintzman was president of the Canadian Bar Association from 1994-95. Recognized as one of Canada’s leading lawyers, he was appointed Queens Counsel in 1980. In 1998 he became and Officer of the Order of Canada, and in 2008 he received the Ontario Bar Association Award for excellence in litigation.

As well as his exceptional skills as a lawyer, litigator and practitioner of alternative dispute resolution, Mr. Heintzman is remembered by those who knew him for his eternal optimism, his positive energy, boundless curiosity and strong work ethic.

The CBA extends its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
