TORONTO – The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) has announced that Julia Shin Doi of Toronto, ON, is the winner of the 2016 CCCA R.V.A. Jones Award.
Julia Shin Doi, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Governors at Ryerson University, has long personified the spirit of the R.V.A. Jones Award. Her achievements, leadership, and over 22 years of hard work, both professionally and on a volunteer level, serve as a shining example of what all corporate counsel strive to achieve in their careers.

Committed to ensuring that the in-house counsel role is valued within Canadian and international legal and business communities, Ms. Shin Doi shares her knowledge and skills with others as a frequent speaker at CBA and CCCA events, is an enthusiastic and supportive champion of the CCCA’s Business Leadership Program for In-House Counsel and has mentored numerous lawyers navigating the profession. Shin Doi is also a past member of the CCCA Editorial Board, the CCCA Executive Committee, and Past-Chair of the CCCAOntario Section.
The R.V.A. Jones Award (named in honour of the CCCA’s founding Executive Director) is awarded annually to a regular member of the CCCA whose career exemplifies the highest standards of service, conduct and professionalism for corporate counsel. The R.V.A. Jones Award is the highest national honour given by the CCCA.
The award will be presented at the CCCA’s 2016 National Conference during the afternoon of Monday, April 4, 2016 in Calgary, AB, along with CCCA’s other awards.
Past winners of the R.V.A. Jones Award include leading corporate counsel at George Weston Limited, Bruce Power, Weyerhaeuser, SAP Canada Inc., McCain Foods Limited, Sun Life Financial, GM, Ontario New Home Warranty Program and Imperial Oil.
