Toronto – The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) has announced that Geoffrey D. Creighton of Toronto is the winner of the 2015 CCCA R.V.A. Jones Award. The award recognizes a member who is committed to ensuring that the in-house counsel role is valued within Canadian and international legal and business communities.
Geoffrey Creighton has long personified the spirit of the R.V.A. Jones Award. He shares his knowledge and skills with others as a frequent speaker at CBA and CCCA events, played a crucial role in the restructuring of the CCCA, and is an enthusiastic and supportive champion of the CCCA’s Business Leadership Program for In-House Counsel.
Recently retired from IGM Financial, he is the current (and inaugural) President of In-House Counsel Worldwide, a community of in-house counsel associations from around the world which he helped found. His achievements and years of hard work, both professionally and as a volunteer, serve as a shining example of what all in-house counsel strive to achieve.
The R.V.A. Jones Award (named in honour of the CCCA’s founding Executive Director) is awarded annually to a member of the CCCA whose career exemplifies the highest standards of service, conduct and professionalism for corporate counsel. It will be presented to Mr. Creighton during the CCCA’s Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Sunday evening , April 19, 2015 in Toronto. This event is part of the 2015 CCCA National Conference.
