Ottawa — Dan MacRury, Q.C., of Sydney, NS won the election for incoming Second Vice-President of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). This position is the first step on the ladder to the national presidency, a post he will assume in August 2016.
CBA President Fred Headon made the announcement on March 27 following a national CBA Council election. “Congratulations to Dan on his successful campaign,” he said. "I'd like to thank him for his dedication to our Association and I look forward to working with him."
Dan MacRury joined the CBA as a young lawyer 24 years ago and is currently Chief Crown Attorney for the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service for the Cape Breton Region. Past President of the Nova Scotia Branch, he has chaired both national and Nova Scotia Branch sections and committees including Criminal Justice, Law Day, and Professional Development. In recognition, he received many awards for his continued involvement with the CBA.
The CBA is dedicated to support for the rule of law, and improvement in the law, and the administration of justice. Members include some 37,500 lawyers, law teachers, and law students from across Canada.
