Both functional and beautiful, a new microsite from the Canadian Bar Association is a resource for lawyers and others on Truth and Reconciliation, as well as a showcase for work by Indigenous artists.

The CBA is committed to answering the calls of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. A central premise of the CBA’s ongoing work is to provide a hub of resources and information to lawyers across Canada to understand the truth and engage in reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

Law school graduates who are pursuing post-grad education in law could support their studies and join a distinguished list of recipients through the Viscount Bennett Fellowship, offered by the CBA.

he Canadian Bar Association’s Law for the Future Fund has announced grants totalling more than $190,000 this year going to a total of eight initiatives involving everything from legal literacy to an examination of who in Canada is stateless, and why.

The CBA John Tait Award of Excellence was established in 1998 to honour, recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of public sector lawyers in Canada. The award is named in memory of the late John Tait, in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the CBA.

The winner of the 2019 CBA Privacy and Access Law Section essay contest is Justin Roy, a third-year law student at the University of Ottawa.

The Law for the Future Fund (LFFF) grants awarded this year will to go to support and protect some of the most vulnerable persons in Canada. The eight recipients of grants will assist these less fortunate individuals – a range that includes new migrants to Canada, incarcerated persons and individuals with low literacy skills — through research, education, technology, and tools.
