It takes a community to raise a child, the saying goes. And when that child is a full-grown woman looking to make her way in the world, she’ll find it also helps to have a community to network with, help her find her way, and cheer her on.
This year for the first time the Women Lawyers Forum’s biennial Leadership Conference for Professional Women is opening its doors not just to lawyers, but to women from all professions.
The conference, titled Building Thriving Communities, will provide a venue for women to build their skills as community leaders and bring together high-performing members of the legal profession as well as entrepreneurs, politicians, journalists, communicators and wellness experts to work on the common goal of engaging with and developing their communities.
The conference, to be held October 18-19 in Halifax, will provide substantive sessions and networking opportunities.
Also during this conference, the Cecilia I. Johnstone Award will be presented. The award recognizes women who have achieved professional excellence in their field, who have influenced other women to pursue legal careers, and who have supported career advancement or opened doors for women lawyers in a variety of job settings.
Registration is now open.
