The Skilled Lawyer Series is back, with two streams of webinars offering hours of continuing professional development (CPD) credits along with a chance to create new skills and improve the ones you already have.
The first stream of this year’s Skilled Lawyers Series is focused on interpreting financial statements. The series started on Jan. 30 with Accounting Fundamentals for Lawyers. It ends May 1 with Financial Statements in Practice: M&A Case Study, and in between touches on topics like understanding balance sheets, what corporate lawyers need to know about income tax statements, and applying accounting principles to legal drafting. Check out the website for dates, times, and information about this year’s presenters. This full stream counts as 12 CPD hours of substantive law in most provinces.
The second stream is all about drafting effective legal documents. These eight webinars will walk you through best practices for drafting key business agreements and challenging clauses, while helping you to avoid ambiguity and common pitfalls along the way. Avoiding Ambiguity in Corporate and Commercial Documents kicks off the series on Feb. 15, and it wraps up on May 10 with Drafting Arbitration Clauses. Other webinars will look at drafting boilerplate provisions, pre-contractual agreements, and common drafting blunders. This full stream also counts as a full 12 hours of CPD in most provinces. Check the website for dates, times, webinar subjects, and to see whether it is accredited in your province.
