CBA National: Good things come to those who wait…and wait…and wait…

Your new-look CBA National magazine is here!  Some hiccups on both the printing and distribution side delayed our official launch, but we’re proud to finally bring you this new magazine created with our members in mind!

In this issue, you’ll find:

  • A big read about the legal implications of rapid developments in artificial intelligence;
  • A new section called Practice Hub with stories about rethinking your office space, how to make a lateral move and when to hit the reset button on your career.  And check out “Lunch with” where two of our members share stories, seek advice and trade tips about their practice area. (The first features Osler’s Mahmud Jamal on appellate advocacy)
  • A new ethics column co-authored by father and daughter Gavin MacKenzie of DLA Piper and Brooke MacKenzie of McCarthy Tétrault; a column by agents of innovation, leading off with Jordan Furlong of Edge International; and a final word by Toronto lawyer,  legal educator (and member of CBA National’s editorial board) Omar Ha-Redeye;
  • More about your CBA community, including a day in the life of a member; advocacy initiatives (CBA was busy during the election); and 25 years of achievement in justice reform with CBA International Initiatives;
  • Finally, our Q&A on voter equality with Michael Pal was written ahead of the election, but it’s worth a read for still-pertinent observations about the fair representation conundrum.

CBA members have a ton of experience, expertise and stories to share. We want to hear your story ideas and profile suggestions. Contact us at national@cba.org.

And don’t forget to make nationalmagazine.ca one of your regular stops for more stories about legal issues and trends.
