On behalf of the Executive, it is my pleasure to welcome both returning and new members to the Canadian Bar Association’s National Insurance Law Section as we embark on an exciting new term for 2024-2025. I extend my sincere gratitude to our Past Chair, Ashley Christie, for her exemplary leadership and dedication over the last two years. Her insights and contributions will continue to guide us as she transitions into her role as Past Chair.
I would like to introduce my fellow officers for this year: Daniel Barber (Vice-Chair) and Katherine Di Tomaso (Secretary). Both have shown tremendous commitment to our section and bring a wealth of experience that will be invaluable as we navigate the evolving landscape of insurance law together.
As we look forward to a productive year ahead, I am excited to announce that we will be hosting a panel discussion on a topic of national interest in the spring. We invite all members to share their ideas and suggestions for topics by December 2, 2024. Your input is invaluable as we strive to ensure that our discussions are relevant and impactful for all members.
We also invite members to contribute articles for our section newsletter. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your expertise and insights while enhancing your profile and that of your organization, particularly with the launch of our new LinkedIn profile. By sharing your knowledge, you can position yourself as a thought leader in the field and contribute to the growth of our community. If you have experiences or insights to share, please reach out to Natalie Edmondson (Liaison Officer, Sections), who will be glad to assist you in the submission process.
Additionally, we are launching our LinkedIn profile, which will go live by December 2, 2024. I encourage all members to follow this page, as it will serve as a platform to spotlight members of the executive, share articles, and communicate information about upcoming professional development initiatives. This initiative aims to foster greater engagement and collaboration within our community.
As we begin this new term, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback. Together, we can create a dynamic and supportive environment that enhances our practice and furthers the advancement of insurance law in Canada.
