  • GOWN TO GOWN:  LAWYERS' CHARITY GALA
    • Tickets now available.  The 3rd Annual Gala will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at TCU Place in Saskatoon.  Proceeds go to CLASSIC.  Support access to justice in Saskatchewan and attend.  For the Ticket Order Form and more information visit the above link.
  • MID-WINTER MEETING 2012
    • Registration is now open.  The 2012 Mid-Winter Meeting is February 2-3, 2012 at the Regina Inn.  Earn 12 CPD hours.  The Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Randall J. Baker, QC at the Friday luncheon (included with meeting registration).  Tickets for the lunch are also available to those not attending the meeting (complete the "Extra" Friday luncheon ticket on the MWM Registration Form.  The MWM Registration Brochure and form are available at the above link. 
  • RETAINING WOMEN IN LAW:  A SOUND BUSINESS STRATEGY
    • Registration is now open for this one-day seminar in March 2012 - Saskatoon (March 5th) and Regina (March 6th).  Earn 6.5 CPD hours, including 3.0 ethics hours.  This seminar will appeal not only to women who want to be successful in the legal profession, but also male partners and firm leaders who want to understand what firms can do to make the practice of law more attractive to women on a long term basis.  For more information and to register visit the above link.
  • CBA COMMITTEE INTEREST FORMS
    • It is through the volunteer efforts of the members that the work of the CBA is accomplished.  There are many committees doing a variety of work.  To become involved in the work of the CBA, simply complete the Committee Interest Form and submit it to the Branch Office.  The Nominating Committee will be meeting in late February or early March to determine candidates / nominees for Branch and National positions for next year.  You are encouraged to get your form in by February 21st to ensure you will be considered.  Committee Interest Forms are available online at the above link.
  • NEW SECTION FOR SASKATCHEWAN
    • Do you know any Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered or Two-spirited (LGBTT) lawyers or law students in the Province of Saskatchewan?   The Canadian Bar Association's LGBTT group, the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) is looking for interested lawyers and law students who would like to help set up a Saskatchewan SOGIC section.  For more information visit the above link.
  • SECTION ACTIVITY
    • It's not too late to sign up.  The Section Registration & Programme Handbook was distributed mid July.  If you have misplaced your Handbook, it and the Registration Forms are available online at the above link.
  • BARNOTES
    • The Editorial Board is inviting submissions for the Spring 2012 issue (deadline March 1st) and is also looking for Saskatchewan pictures for future BarNotes front cover collages.  The only criteria is, they must be taken in Saskatchewan by you.  Send submissions to brendah@cba.org.  Back issues of BarNotes are available in pdf format online at the above link.
